ASUS Spring Cup 2012 down to 32

ASUS Spring Cup 2012 has moved to its second group stage phase with 32 teams remaining while fighting for two spots at the Final Battle of the Year event as well as a piece of the 90,000 RUB prize money.

The qualifiers for ASUS Spring Cup 2012 started with over 800 teams signed up and we are now down to just the final 32. No major upsets have happened so far as the favorites keep marching on towards the Final Battle of the Year, won by Moscow Five in 2011.

While majority of the competition hail from the Commonwealth of Independent States, there are also some international teams participating such as Anexis, eSrael and ALTERNATE.

Each team will face one another once in the group stage with the first match taking place on de_dust2, second round on de_nuke and the final round on de_mirage.

Prize distribution:

1. 40,000 RUB (~995€), FBotY spot & 5x Corsair Vengeance K60
2. 25,000 RUB (~620€), FBotY spot & 5x Corsair Vengeance M60
3. 15,000 RUB (~370€)
4. 10,000 RUB (~250€)

According to ASUSOpen.com, the tournament will continue with group stages until six teams remain, and then the group winners will advance directly to semi-finals while second and third place finishers will play quarter finals.

Rest of the tournament will be played out in a single elimination best-of-three bracket from there on out, featuring the now standard map pool consisting of de_dust2, de_forge, de_inferno, de_mirage, de_nuke, de_train and de_tuscan.
